Telmediq Welcomes Karen Moore, Registered Nurse & Clinical Informaticist

Karen-Moore-TelmediqKaren Moore is an experienced registered nurse and clinical informaticist. She has been working in nursing specialty and leadership roles for over 30 years, including end-user training and usage of clinical applications. Most currently, Karen has turned her clinical expertise and nursing experience towards improving clinical workflow and communication in today’s healthcare systems. We are pleased to welcome Karen to the Telmediq team to help build our nursing solutions and connect with nurses.

“I am passionate about increasing nursing efficiency through communication,” notes Karen. “Right now, hospital’s have a lot of technology - but none of it works together. Technology is supposed to enhance patient care, not cause more issues for the nursing staff. I’m excited to be working with Telmediq to help improve patient flow and safety.

Karen has seen first hand how isolated communication systems can impact patient outcomes. As a nurse manager in an ICU, Karen witnessed a patient fall that led to a death.

“I want to be able to prevent these kinds of issues in the future with increased patient notification to the nursing staff,” notes Karen. “Telmediq can send critical alerts such as bed exit, staff assist, or even critical lab results. All of this helps nurses and physicians deliver urgent care.”

The goal of Meaningful Use was to encourage clinicians to use health IT, most notably EHR technology. As hospitals rushed to meet Meaningful Use requirements, a lot of Health IT solutions were adopted quickly, with little respect for existing technologies, processes, teams, or users. The result? Siloed systems, siloed users, burnout. The list goes on. But the end result is that it became harder and more time consuming to deliver care to patients.

Karen has seen the impact of all of this change first hand. As an informaticist, Karen helped promote the understanding, integration, and application of technology within clinical areas from training, to collection of workflow concerns. As Director of Throughput Operations, she helped design a solution that decreased ED hold hours by 15%. In these roles, Karen gained critical insight on the challenges facing hospitals today. Now Karen has come to Telmediq to make a bigger impact on improving the quality of care in hospitals.

From the very start, Telmediq has worked collaboratively with every hospital to map unique processes, technologies, and user dynamics to provide a solution that will provide value to end users. From deployment to our own product evolution, nurse and physician insight has been with us every step of the way. Today, we’re excited to welcome Karen Moore's insight for Telmediq and our clients.
